BUCS 2007-2008 SEASON
During the fall, the BUCS performs various types of works at our concert in early December.
This fall concert included pieces of European classical music and Latin American music.
In the spring, the BUCS has traditionally held two separate concerts. The POPS Concert, held in February, featured more contemporary music, from musicals and jazz to the Beatles. This spring, we performed
this concert in collaboration with the Jazz Combo Musicians . At this concert, choral society members were also given the option of forming small groups that perform as well. For our Masterworks Concert, held in late April, the BUCS generally chooses to focus on the works of one great composer, such as Mozart or Handel.
This year, we will be performing Mozart's Requiem with orchestral accompaniment.
We are a co-ed, mixed voice, non-audition ensemble with anywhere from 65 to 85 members per semester.
We are open to all voice parts and experience levels, not just undergraduates and music sutudents.
Rehearsals are twice a week:
Tuesdays and Sundays 8:00-9:30 PM CFA 171
In addition to the main
ensemble, the Chamber Singers (a group of about 20) are drawn by
audition
from within the chorus. Chamber practice takes place directly before or after rehearsal, for forty-five minutes to an hour.
As part of our
(unfortunately) necessary fundraising efforts, the BUCS does ask its
members to pay dues to
help finance our operations. We ask for $15 on a
semester-by-semester basis, or $25 for the full year.
