About BUMS
The Boston University Music Society (BUMS) is a student organization comprised of graduate and undergraduate students in musicology, music theory and ethnomusicology. Membership is also extended to students of other departments and program that express in interest in these areas.
The aim and purpose of the Boston University Music Society is to foster an environment where its members can meet to discuss and debate current issues in the fields of musicology, music theory, and ethnomusicology. We encourage our members to present original papers in a conference-style forum. These forums are generally held at least once per academic semester. BUMS strives for the promotion of ideas in our fields, as well as networking with like-minded individuals within the disciplines of our respective and diverse fields.
We also hold general membership meetings approximately once a month to discuss outstanding and new business. We also periodically have social gatherings in order to foster a sense of community.
