The Three Ball Cascade.

Step 1: Find 3 objects.
Whatever you can find will work, but here are some basic guidelines.
-Look for spherical objects that are the same weight.
·If you use similar objects you'll make more consistent throws.
    -Don't use fruit.
         ·Unless you're hungry.
    -Avoid bounciness/rolliness.
·Things that can collide in midair and explode in different directions then roll under your couch are bad.
-In general, saggier = easier to catch, stiffer = easier to throw

In short, don't use tennis balls if you can avoid it.

Step 2: Find a place to juggle.
Obviously, the best choice is BUJA meetings every Thursday from 7-9pm. I understand that you don't want to wait that long though,
so here are some good places to learn how to juggle.
    -Next to your bed.
         ·The balls fall within reach!
    -Anywhere and everywhere.
·Can you think of any situations that wouldn't be improved if everyone took a little time out to work on their juggling?

Step 3: Throw and catch one ball.

Pick up one of those three objects you found and toss it from one hand to the other. Feels good, doesn't it?
-The path of the ball follows a line approximately from the bottom of the chest to just above the opposite eye.
-Try to throw it with a steady rhythym, as if each throw were the first beat of a waltz (think throw, 2, 3...).

Step 4: Add another ball into the mix
Download
Pick up another one of those objects. You have one in each hand now, right?
-What we're going to do now is perform Step 3 two times in rapid succession, throwing one and then the other in exactly the same way.
·We're only doing one kind of throw right now, the toss from one hand to the other.
The two balls will cross at one point directly in front of you as they form two intersecting arcs.
-Try to alternate hands. You might start Throw(right) Throw(left), Catch(left) Catch(right) then repeat starting with the left.
·Once you're comfortable with this, try to keep throwing them in a steady rhythm. For example, if the balls are thrown right then left, make another left hand
throw before you catch with the right hand, and continue - Throw(right) Throw(left) (Rest), Throw(left) Throw(right) (Rest), etc.

Try not to pass a ball from one hand to the other at any point. Just do the throw indicated in Step 3!

Step 5: Juggle!
Download
It's time. Pick up that third object. Throw one of the balls from the hand with two first, exactly as described
in Step 3, and then follow it up with the two throws described in Step 4. If you prefer, repeat Step 3 ad infinitum.
Remember, every throw is exactly the same!

Step 6: Troubleshooting
At this point, you probably can't get more than a few catches. That's okay! Let's see what we're doing wrong...

1.) The balls keep going forward and I seem to only be able to keep going if I break into a sprint.
- The common advice for this is to try standing on one foot or directly next to a wall, but also make sure that you're not all hunched over and throwing with bent wrists. Focus on making the pattern as planar as possible and you'll get it eventually.

2.) The balls keep hitting each other.
- As you know from physics, a thrown object travels in a parabolic curve. When the object is at the highest point of the curve, gravitational acceleration has caused the velocity in the vertical direction to go to zero, so it just kind of hangs there for a moment. THAT's when you throw the next ball, and doing so with a steady rhythym will ensure that they won't collide.

3.) I'm doing the opposite of what you described. I find it a lot easier to throw from the outside and have the balls cross when they're falling.
- What you're doing is called a "reverse cascade". You're one of the unusual group of people who, for some reason, find it easier to juggle patterns in reverse. It's okay, you're just weird.

4.) I'm totally lost...
- Free up your schedule on Thursday night from 7-9pm and come to the Sargent Gym.

Step 7: You are a Juggler
Congratulations! By now you've probably received your official License to Juggle card and learned the secret Juggler's Handshake™. Now go out into the world and teach every person you meet how to juggle!
