The time is finally here everyone--HOLI !

Holi is the celebration of the beginning of Spring and friendship. In India, thousands of people pour onto the streets wearing all white and throw colored powder and scented water on others. It is a time of joy and great excitement, exemplifying friendship, and love.

There will be TONS of FREE colored powders, water games, FOOD, music and of course, FUN! Also look out for a big surprise from HSC for all its fans :)

The event will take place on Saturday, April 20th from 2-4 PM on Cummington St Mall (behind Warren Towers).

So come out with ALL of your friends and help Boston University Hindu Students Council spread the happiness and cheer that comes from the "Festival of Colors".

Come join BU HSC for Navratri Aarti all the nights to celebrate this festive occasion! This will be very short, and there will be prasad afterward!

Join BU HSC on Saturday, October 6th, as we have Boston's BIGGEST and BEST Garba! The Garba will be in the Metcalf Ballroom, 775 Commonwealth Avenue at 8 pm, and doors open at 7:30 pm.

Light Refreshments will be served on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to arrive early for complimentary Indian cuisine!

Also don't expect anything less than the best LIVE band-- Sargam Ki Shyam will be there all night to provide live music!

Tickets will be sold at the GSU link from Monday, October 1st to Friday, October 5th-- $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Also, BU Fatakada will be holding a Garba Raas workshop Thursday October 4th at SAC gym from 6-7 pm. Bring your friends and learn first-hand all the in's and outs of garba/raas by the Pros themselves!

Join BU HSC on Saturday, April 28th, as we conduct our bi-annual Saraswati Puja in the basement of the School of Theology from 1:45 - 3:00 pm.

Pandit Saxenaji will be there to guide everyone through their own individual pujas and will explain the significance of the rituals taking place.

Come out to end your year off the right way and to get blessings before Finals! We all know we could use them!

This year's Holi will be at the BU Beach on Saturday, April 14. The fun begins at 12:30 pm and continues on until 3:30 pm. There will be TONS of colored powders, water balloons, FREE FOOD, music and of course, FUN!

Are you interested in helping us coordinate events like Garba, Diwali Puja and Dinner, Sewa, discussions, Holi and much more? Being on the HSC E-board gives you a chance to further your interest in HSC, and at the same time learn how we work behind the scenes. Students of every level of involvement are encouraged to apply.

Join HSC in celebrating Shivratri (the great night of Shiva), on February 25th at 4 pm at School of Theology Room 325.

At the ceremony, you will be able to conduct your own pujas with the help of Pundit Saxena. Feel free to bring all your friends to this joyous and fulfilling event. It is open to people of all backgrounds and faiths.

Welcome back everyone to campus, and we hope you had a good, restful break!

We are going to have our General Meeting this semester on Wednesday, February 15th at 8 pm in CAS 313. We will have games and prizes, and also talk about the various events we have planned for the rest of the semester, including Shivratri Puja, Holi, Temple Trip, and lots more! Bring your friends and we hope to see you all there.

Diwali Puja
Join BU HSC for Diwali Puja on Friday, October 28, at 6 pm in the basement of the School of the Theology. Pandit Saxenaji will be present to guide us all through our very own pujas! Join us as we celebrate the Festival of Lights and usher in the new year!

Diwali Dinner
Come out to our yearly dinner on Sunday, November 6, at 5:30 pm in Photonics 906 (Colloquium Room). We will first have bhajans and learn more about Diwali. This will be followed by catered Indian food! So bring all your friends!

Boston University's Hindu Students Council's Executive Board is pleased to announce the creation of our new website. We hope that this website will continue to extend our online presence and help us reach out to more students. This website will be updated regularly and will strive to provide the community with updates about BU HSC, as well as with several resources about Hinduism and spirituality. Please be sure to check out upcoming events, photos from past events and some useful websites about Hinduism. Additionally, we are also are rolling out a new new feature called Geeta Shloka of the day, which will provide you with a daily email containing a verse from the Geeta, along with English translation and commentary. Lastly, as some of you may already know, we have recently acquired Swami Ramsamooj as our Campus Minister at BU. We are excited to have him with us as a resource and as a liaison with the BU Administration and Religious Life community, and we hope that you reach out to him with any questions you may have. Get ready to start off the year with Splash! Splash is an annual event organized by the Students Activities Office, where hundreds of students gather at Nickerson field to interact with BU student organizations and get a feel of Student Life. We will be talking about our mission and goals, and what we do on campus here at Boston University.
