THE BOSTON UNIVERSITY CHINA CARE FUND
Founded in February 2005, we are a group of BU students who set out with a will to give unfortunate children in undeveloped areas of rural China a chance to live, a chance to experience, and a chance to touch the elementary education that we experience today in developed countries.
Boston University 's (BU) China Care Fund focuses on raising funds and collecting aid materials from BU and surrounding communities to support China Care Fund Ltd. (CCF) at the Sacred Heart Canossian College in Hong Kong . Funds will directly provide the most primary needs for the education of poverty-stricken children of Southeast China, namely Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces . CCF is a registered charitable and non-profit organization founded in 2002, but their mission was started in 1993. Between 1994 and 2000, CCF Ltd. sponsored the building of 13 primary schools; between 2000 and 2003, 6 schools were built, 5 primary and 1 senior secondary. Since 1994, CCF has sponsored over 500 primary pupils in their book fees and miscellaneous expenses. Today, we unite with CCF to fight the long and difficult war against poverty-stricken areas in China .
We strongly believe that children in China , especially those living in remote areas and in poverty, should be given the opportunity to experience at least a small fraction of the education we receive. We believe that everyone can make a difference as long as you have the will to do so. A penny can go a long way; you just have to believe.
OUR MISSION
To provide educational assistance and services to students in poverty-stricken villages and remote mountainous regions of China;
To provide opportunities for people in Boston to understand China, its education system and its limitations, and to value each and every exposure as an opportunity for learning;
To provide people in Boston with real life experience and the opportunity to serve and, in the process, learn to appreciate the joy of giving so much with so little. |
