ERASMUS MUNDUS : "QUATERNARY AND PREHISTORY"
We hereby inform you that the tender for future grantees of the European Master
Program, Erasmus Mundus: "Quaternary and Prehistory" is open for the
Academic year 2006 - 2007. This program, coordinated by Ferrara University (Prof.
Carlo Peretto), is financed by the European Commission, in order to promote
scientific exchanges and help students from NON EUROPEAN countries to get their
degree within a consortium of universities located in France, Italy, Spain and
Portugal. Grants are provided for a two year long curriculum. The purpose of
the program is to attract and help the best students interested into Quaternary
Geology, Human Palaeontology, and Prehistory. Please notice that besides usual
grants, an ASIAN WINDOW will probably be open again, in order to provide Asian
countries with a specific extra number of grants.

Student Research Grants on Latin America 2005-06
The Program in Latin American Studies at Boston University
is pleased to announce a new competition for funding to sponsor undergraduate
research on Latin America. In particular, this initiative is aimed at students
completing Works for Distinction or other significant research projects for
academic credit. The funds can be used for travel or other research expenses
between November 2005 and June 2006. The competition is open to Latin American
Studies (LASP) majors, minors, and other CAS students conducting research on
Latin America.

Applications should include the following:
o A letter of application
o A resume or curriculum vitae
o A copy of your transcript
o A project proposal of approximately two pages (plus any supporting documentation)
in which you set out the nature of the project, the specific research to be
funded by the grant, a concrete, specific research plan, and an itemized, documented
budget for the research
o Evidence that the student is also seeking other avenues of funding (such as
UROP or outside sources)
o A letter of recommendation from a LASP faculty member
A small number of modest awards may be made, up to a maximum of $500 per student (more modest proposals are more likely to be funded), according to the strength of the research proposal and the student's qualifications.
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 7, 2005.
A committee of LASP faculty will notify applicants of its decisions on or about
November 21, 2005.
