WAIVER: Competitors must complete the waiver below prior to dancing, and will not be permitted to enter the venue before doing so. PERFORMANCE: We will be hosting a showcase this year featuring Jose DeCamps and Joanna Zacharewicz!
Having won 1st places in both the World Professional Rhythm and World Show Dance categories at Ohio Star Ball in November, Joanna & Jose are the 2007 WORLD CHAMPIONS! They also won 1st places in both the U.S. National Professional Rhythm Dance Championship and U.S. National Professional Mambo Championship categories at the United States Dance Championships! Tickets Tentative Order of Events: Saturday Session I Sunday Session IV We will offer fun dances as time permits. Rules: Level Restrictions Newcomer competitors began dancing in August, 2007 or later. Bronze competitors began dancing in August, 2006 or later, or have been dancing for a total of no more than three semesters. Registration If a dance is not offered at a competitor’s level, he or she may dance up one level for that dance. For example, a Bronze competitor may compete in Bronze International Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot as well as Silver International Quickstep. Double-registration is PROHIBITED unless competing at the Novice level (see below). Novice is the ONLY level in which syllabus competitors may double-register. It is open to all syllabus competitors. In addition, competitors who have competed at the Open level for NO MORE than a semester, or for a total of five competitions or less, may register for Novice but NOT Championship for that style. Open competitors may not double-register. Competitors may not dance an event in which they have accumulated 7 YCN points. Competitors may only span TWO LEVELS of events. For example, a competitor MAY compete in Silver International Standard, Silver American Smooth, Silver American Rhythm, and Gold International Latin. A competitor MAY NOT compete in Silver International Standard, Gold International Latin, Gold American Rhythm, and Open American Smooth. Choreography Syllabus competitors must abide by the ISTD Syllabi for International Latin and Standard events, and by the NDCA Syllabi for American Smooth and Rhythm events. Open choreography is permitted in the Novice and Open levels ONLY. Costumes Costumes are permitted at all levels. |

Registration and Fees Competitors will be able to register online at Ballroom Registrar.
Regular registration fee for students: $35.00 Registration fee includes admission to the Saturday showcase.

Dance Club Please send one payment per team, if possible. *Registration payment must be postmarked by the above dates. Double-registration is PROHIBITED, unless competing at the Novice level (see Rules at left). Spectators: Admission to the competition is free, but there is a fee for the performance (see the Performance section at left for details). The Venue Food The George Sherman Union features a campus convenience store, as well as the Union Court on the first floor that offers assorted dining options, including Starbucks, Panda Express, and Jamba Juice. A full list of vendors is available at the George Sherman Union website. Photography and Video Recording During the professional performance, all forms of video recording are strictly PROHIBITED. Outside of the professional performance, photography and video recording is welcome and encouraged! Directions and Parking Metcalf Hall is on the second floor of the George Sherman Union, located at the Boston University Charles River Campus at 775 Commonwealth Avenue.
By T: the location is a two-minute walk from BU Central on the Green Line from downtown Boston heading outbound towards Boston College. T fare is $2.00 with cash/Charlie Ticket or $1.70 with the Charlie Card. By Bus: the 47 Bus from Central Square in Cambridge heading towards Broadway Station stops at the BU Bridge, which is a two-minute walk to the Union. The 57 Bus from Kenmore Square heading towards Watertown Yard stops in front of the venue. Bus fare is $1.50 with cash/Charlie ticket or $1.25 with the Charlie Card. Parking in Boston is available on a first come, first served basis. Visiting competitors and spectators should note that Commonwealth Avenue is undergoing construction, which adds to the challenge of finding parking. Limited metered parking is located up and down Commonwealth Avenue. Boston University also has several parking lots throughout the campus that are open to public use for a fee.
