Coach Johnson served four seasons as Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Alpine Ski Team at Boston University in addition to his four years of racing for the team. He also serves as Treasurer on the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Board of Directors. Johnson led the Women's team to a second place finish in regular season competition in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he also led the women's team to finish as the top club team at the USCSA Northeast Regional Championships.

A native of Stillwater, Minnesota, Johnson skied his way to the Northeast Regional Championships four times as a BU undergraduate. He was seeded first for the men's team in the three years the team made the Northeast Regional meet during his undergraduate career. As the top skier in the Thompson Division, he raced Regionals as an individual when the men's team failed to make the postseason. Johnson finished top ten in the Thompson Division each season of his undergraduate career. As a senior, Johnson was captain of the BU team.
