Clinic Interests

Professor Abele's clinical interests are in:

  • language/learning disabilities in children and adults
  • educational models of speech therapy
  • pragmatic language deficits, especially as they impact social interaction
  • Asperger's Syndrome
  • developing effective social interaction groups for children, adolescents and adults.

    Current Research

    Ms. Abele is working to improve the ways in which speech pathology graduate students are taught diagnostic skills by developing the use of portfolio assessment as a tool to monitor their education as they progress from the diagnostic class to participating in diagnostic evaluations in our training clinic (with Barbara Oppenheimer, CCC/SLP).
